Notch is a private, on-device log. This policy explains, plainly, what happens to your information. The short version: Notch collects nothing, and your data never leaves your phone unless you choose to send it.
Notch is made by Journey ALM Ltd. If you have any question about privacy, you can reach us at robthomson@journeyalm.com.
Nothing. Notch has no account, no sign-in, and no servers. It makes no network calls of any kind. There is no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party software that reports on how you use the app. We cannot see your entries, because they never reach us.
Because of this, the App Store privacy label for Notch is "Data Not Collected".
Everything you enter, your events, your daily check-ins, your notes, and your settings, is stored only on your device. It is protected by your device's standard encryption and is included in your device's normal encrypted backup (for example your encrypted iCloud or computer backup), so you do not lose your log if you replace your phone. Notch itself never sends this backup anywhere; it is part of how your phone already protects your data.
Only when you decide. Notch gives you two ways to take a copy off the device, and both are started by you:
Once you share or save a copy, what happens to that copy is governed by wherever you sent it (for example your mail app, a messaging app, or your files), not by Notch.
If you turn on the optional app lock, Notch asks your device to confirm it is you using Face ID or your passcode. This check happens entirely on your device through Apple's standard system; Notch never receives your biometric data.
Notch does not collect any information from anyone, including children.
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top and post the new version at this address.
